South Africa is Calling

Interior design never stops to amaze me with its countless possibilities to create one-of-a-kind spaces. Today's home in Franschhoek, Western Cap in South Africa by Van Der Merwe Miszewski Architect has every aspect of great home. From contemporary exterior (above) to both rustic and modern elements inside...
To varied but controlled color palette (that is made even more interesting with nice use of materiality):
To a few "bam" features such as the sliding door, double-sided concrete fireplace or oversized lamp:
To functional yet eye-catching kitchen (industrial vs rustic elements are definitely a plus too):
To over-the-top wall treatment showing something necessary (such as wood for fire) CAN become a feature in its space:
To details (because you knew I wouldn't leave them out):
To minimal bathroom that could potentially use a hint of additional color but it's beautifully designed nonetheless:
And to sophisticated bedroom that is connected to the outdoors:
Good home indeed:

  3. What a beautiful house. I would love to live there any day.
Such a simplicity of material and form. I love that there is such a continuity of wood - ceiling beams, furniture, lighting.
    Thanks for the inspiration!
